Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon
Dr Deepak Bhatia completed his orthopaedic surgical training at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. He subsequently pursued fellowship training in shoulder, elbow, and wrist surgery at leading institutes in Belgium, South Africa, and Australia. His current clinical practice at Sportsmed Mumbai is focussed on sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist.
Dr Deepak Bhatia is a founding member and past Secretary of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India, and is a current member of the Elbow, Wrist, and Hand committee of ISAKOS. He has lectured and performed live surgeries at national and international shoulder conferences, and is involved with training other surgeons in the subcontinent. Dr Bhatia is actively involved in clinical and cadaveric research. His current research interests include shoulder instability, distal biceps ruptures, and irreparable rotator cuff tears. His research on distal biceps endoscopy was awarded the Gary G. Poehling Award in 2017 (ISAKOS, Shanghai), and he was a recipient of the ISAKOS Young Investigator Research Mentorship Award in 2015.
